My love of books started the minute I found out that when you put single letters together, they made words! Wow! It still amazes me.
As I grew up, a book was always in my hand, whether while eating, sitting in the nearest tree, or hiding under the covers when I was supposed to be asleep.
Then when I joined my two sisters singing with my daddy's band when I was "knee-high to a grasshopper" (as they say in my native Ozark Mountains), I was hooked on performing. So I continued to look for stages on which to perform and landed the title role in my first stage play when I was in 5th grade. And that's when my love of theatre blossomed. I’ve been performing ever since, playing to anyone unfortunate enough to sit in my presence.
When I found books on tape (literally "on tape" at the time) I discovered I could read just about any time, no matter what I was doing. It took a while for the epiphany to hit (that I could read books out loud and people would actually listen to them), but when it did, I ran with it. And I’m still running.
